Define your Goals

Be clear on what your goals are for the short, medium and long term. “Where do you want to be i
n 5 years’ time?” is a common question asked in interviews and during annual reviews and it’s an Goal-Setting1important question which you should ask yourself. You might think you can’t think that far ahead but this type of question will stimulate your brain to decide what actions you need to take to get where you wan
t. Do you need to learn new skills, develop existing skills, manage people, set up a new company, get new experiences in different work environments or even new countries? These are all useful questions to ask which could open up a wealth of opportunities for you and enrich your life. Perhaps you can break those 5 years down into goals for what you want to do in the next 6 months, year, 18 months, 2 years etc then it becomes more manageable and more realistic to consider. Each goal will start with a single step. It is important for you to ensure your goals are aligned to your values in life, e.g. if you want to be an astronaut and spend a year in space but have just had a baby and value your family life, then this will be difficult to reconcile
